STARR KINDERGARTEN

Thank you for your interest in our Starr Kindergarten Program for the 2022-2023 school year starting the first full week of September. This homeschool program has been carefully curated and designed as a hands-on, multisensory, noprep curriculum free from worldly holidays, birthdays, and patriotism. It features twice weekly live classes that promote social interaction and public speaking in a fun and engaging way, daily prerecorded reading and math videos so that your child is taught in a skilled and exciting manner, and over 100 learning games and activity centers ready for your Kindergartener to enjoy!

Witness children who turn 5 on or before December 1, 2023 are invited to join, or children who will have completed two full years of Starr Playschool (pre-K program) by September 2023.

This program aligns with Common Core Standards and includes reading, writing, spelling, math, social studies, science, and social skills. (See the end of this packet for a full list of topics covered.) Students are taught through workbooks, pre-recorded lessons, learning games and activity centers, live weekly Zoom classes, and bi-monthly one-on-one assessments with the owner/Kindergarten teacher, Lauren Starr. Monthly Zoom small group projects and writing partner check-ins are also a feature of Starr Kindergarten. To assist in your homeschool journey, Mrs. Lauren also meets with each individual family to discuss your state/province homeschool requirements, speaks with your school district on your behalf to make sure all local requirements are met, and assists you with paperwork to document your homeschooling.

Each family has a legal and constitutional right to homeschool their children. Homeschool curriculums cannot be accredited by federal or state governments. There are accredited online schools/charter schools, but that is a separate entity and is not legally defined as homeschooling. Those are legally defined as schooling at home, versus being taught primarily by a parent. Feel free to contact me and I can send a few articles about the difference and why accreditation for a homeschool curriculum does not matter, even if you plan on enrolling your child in public school first grade next year. (We have many families who are doing so next year with no problem at all.)

You will receive a 22lb box of all workbooks, learning games/centers, guided reading books, and bonus material in early August. You won’t need to print or make any of the materials yourself. The learning games and centers are neatly packaged and labelled for easy use, and they are laminated for durability so you can reuse them again and again! The workbooks are all nicely bound to lay flat

Yes, the following are recommended and will be used throughout the year: a clear spinner, connecting cubes, magnetic letters/numbers, a small whiteboard, large foam dice, and clothespins. I have a full Amazon listing of materials in the “Blog” section of our website.
